I am not a blind follower of yours.I do not worship you or have got your name tattooed on my arm.I do not stand in front Mannat on your birthday to get a glimpse of you waving your hand to me, I do not participate in battles of Salman and Shahrukh on twitter or any other social media handle. As per my understanding, such posts are generally shared by pages who want to boost their likes and posts and I often find the people who battle with each other defending their own star and criticising the other to understand cinema the least.

But I still consider myself to be your true fan ,a fan whose respect you have earned through the years with breathtaking cinema, a fan who loves you for the way you carry yourself on and off screen,a fan who sees you as an idol to achieve the epitome of success and stardom ,a fan who has always sang praises of your hard work and a fan who is now criticising you for what you have been doing.

No this is not about Intolerance. This is about Dilwale. The first question that came to mind after watching the trailer was ,why? Why are you doing such movies? What is the need to do commercial potboilers?

First Chennai Express, then Happy New Year and now Dilwale.I know that such movies will make you earn hundreds of crores and you are already the second richest actor in the world. Not much time is left before you take the top spot in making money rain. But I am pretty sure of one thing, few decades later people will not remember you for being the richest actor on the planet, they will remember you for being the most popular, most enigmatic, most charming and the most hard working actor the world has ever seen.

You have a fan base of over 3 billion which is close to half of the world’s population.Thesepeople who go about telling everyone about your acting skills, confidence and super-stardom are not your fans because of Chennai Express,Happy New year and Dilwale. They call themselves to be your fans because they have watched and have been awe-struck by movies like Swades,Chak De India,My Name Is Khan,Dil Se,Darr,Baazigar,DDLJ,Devdas,Kal Ho Na Ho and lot more beautiful movies that you have made before 2012.With every illogical stunt scene, every Whatsapp level joke, predictable storyline in your movie ,you are earning millions of rupees but there are millions of fans that you are losing, millions of fans who are waiting for you to make movies that touch the hearts of people, movies that they can tell their grandchildren to watch, movies that they will remember till their last breath.

I know such movies do not become the highest grossing movies and some even fail at the box office miserably, and I have to call the Indian audience responsible for that. But times are changing, today people are watching movies with content.TVF Pitchers has become the highest watched web series in the world, and that is a proof of it.Maybe the movies that failed then were ahead of their time and such quality content may create blockbusters in the coming years. And why worry for the commercial success? You SRK,you are a marketing genius.

While all have criticised the movie and you,I am sitting quietly, waiting for you to silence the critics. The time to return has arrived,SRK.

I will be waiting for “FAN”.

Forever,
A true fan
